You may or may not know that I am a proud mama to my brilliant 2 year old, Kaydee. Ever since she was born I could tell she was wise beyond her.. months 🤣 By 6 months she was saying “more”, not signing more but SAYING more. So of course the educator in me jumped to the occasion of teaching her more and more words! Now she is 25 months and speaking in full(ish) sentences and even starting to read CVC words!
It all started with simple CVC words flashcards. I would laminate them back to back (Word on 1 side and the picture+word on the other).
I grouped them according to word family and we began with -at words. She knows all of her letter sounds so I made the 1st letter red so she can focus on that sound and tell her the -at says at.
With enough repetition she would read them to me! 🤯
Then I moved onto matching puzzles just to spice it up and she doesn’t get bored.
To my surprise… she matched them all on her own! I again started with just -at words, then switched it to -in and then -ig words.
